INEOS Styrolution Supports Salvation Army Covid Response

Jan 4, 2021 | by nmutuma

INEOS Styrolution's Texas City plant donated $12,000 to The Salvation Army of Galveston County through the international INEOS Community Fund. The grant will support the organization's ability to continue expanded services to the community due to Covid-19, providing shelter, meals, and groceries to those in need.

INEOS Styrolution's Environmental Engineer Diana Firpi, who nominated the charity for a grant noted, "The Salvation Army has been a tremendous support to the community during hurricanes and other disasters. While many people in Galveston County that have counted on them for basic necessities, the wide-spread impact of the pandemic has increased demand.  The organization has shown great commitment and compassion to respond quickly to urgent needs within the community."

The INEOS Community Fund was established by INEOS owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe, John Reece and Andy Currie in March 2020 as part of the company's social response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The fund will provide grants to the end of 2020 to support community charities around the company's 183 sites through this particularly challenging period.

The fund recognizes that local charities and community organizations have a special role to play in reaching some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, developing trusted relationships and implementing practical support programs that work well- and has therefore invited its employees to recommend charitable causes for funding. It will support direct charitable responses to the pandemic, as well as the recovery efforts of other vital charities whose fundraising and operational capacities have been affected by Covid-19.

The Salvation Army relies solely on the community it serves to support the needs of the area. To help, you can make a donation online or check out volunteer opportunities at www.salvationarmygalvestoncounty.org.
